WHICH BREAKPOINTS?

The breakpoints used to classify isolates as susceptible/intemediate/resistant on this website are the version 9 BSAC breakpoints (January 2010), with a correction for Pseudomonas-tzp (S<=16). In a few cases, where BSAC breakpoints have not been set, EUCAST v 1.0 breakpoints are used (for S. pneumoniae with cli, dor, min and tec; alpha-haemolytic streptococci with dor, etp, ipm and mem; beta-haemolytic streptococci with dor, ipm, mem, min, tec and van; H. influenzae with min; and M. catarrhalis with amx, ctx and min).

More recent breakpoints may exist.

DEFINITIVE BREAKPOINTS

This site lists breakpoints only for antibiotic/organism combinations tested in the BSAC Resistance Surveillance Project; they were extracted from BSAC and EUCAST sources in March 2010. Recommendations may have changed since then. Please visit the BSAC or EUCAST websites for the most recent complete annotated tables.

CHANGING BREAKPOINTS

We aim to use current breakpoints on this website. As a result, the percentages of isolates shown as susceptible/intermediate/resistant may differ from those published in previous papers or calculated on the website at an earlier date with earlier breakpoints.
